letter to teacher

Dear Lorenzo,
I have decided to try something new, a real step back from the hustle of the city. Leaving Parsons for a semester is not an option for me so I'm going to take the time we have off during the winter to get back together with my friend I call, the ice cold freezing hell (maine in the winter)....yup so I'm doing junior 4pt again!
But I'm doing it my way ha ha. I plan to spend 3 weeks in January staying in our one bedroom/one room house in waldoboro at the end of our field. It has no heat, water, or electricity, just a bed and some kerosene lamps. I plan on setting up a wood furnace and using a propane stove. But I was hoping you can help me figure out exactly what I need, and because I am hoping to spend as little money as possible I was hoping to borrow any gear you would be willing to lend me.
Oh and did I mention,I have also turned this into a school project and will be receiving credit for it. I have titled this experience Hibernation. I am starting a blog to document the process of preparing for the experience and to be one of the many exhibitions of the work I make while I hibernate. I am working on finding a sponsor for materials and exhibition space, I would like to have a show for all my work after. I basically am going to sew, sleep, write, photograph, and maybe even film my whole experience. My fashion teacher is helping me with all the details in putting this all together. She's a mainer and is very granola so she is really digging this idea. So am I.
I noticed that a lot of my art work is experience inspired and emotionally based. When Peter died I felt like I needed to really do something radically off the grid. I need to branch out while at the same time go with in myself. When Hibernation came to mind I knew I had to do it. I think it will be a great start to a lifetime full of bizarre experiences I am yet to have.
Please tell me what you think? My blog is thehibernation.blogspot.com
I literary came up with this idea a week ago so its still fresh and not complete with research. Any ideas and help would be great!
I hope you like to blog because I'm counting on you to be my #1 blogger!
Enjoying the warmth while I still can,
Much Love,
Alexa Bey

letter to teacher

Dear Susan,

I have been thinking more about this Hibernation plan and I have chosen to do it this winter break from the 6th of January to the 20th (2 weeks, but can be extended). Right I am starting to figure out the necessary materials and gear i will need. I have decided to purchase and collect materials to make...anything. I also decided to turn this into a project much like my road trip, and making some form of documentary of the experience. of course the details are not ready yet but i would like to discuss this further with you in class. Is there a possibility of receiving some sort of sponsorship for this? I hope with someone who will continue on through the exhibition of the work that is generated during the experience. If you have any ideas of people i can contact i would really love to have your help with contacting those who would be interested in my project. let me know what you think.
